Health equity
With unmatched capabilities across an extensive, integrated portfolio, Thermo Fisher Scientific is well positioned to support customers—including governments and public health organizations—as they work to reduce health disparities and improve outcomes.
Our dedication to building thriving health ecosystems and removing barriers to accessibility powers our contributions to the scientific validity and broad applicability of our customers’ groundbreaking products, research and life-saving therapies.
Through our health equity efforts, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients through three strategic impact areas:
- Advance innovation: We partner with health centers, clinical sites and universities to develop more inclusive tools and protocols that can mitigate barriers to lifesaving therapies.
- Enable capacity building: We invest in local infrastructure and empower healthcare professionals through education and training to support resilient communities and stakeholders on the front lines.
- Expand market access: We increase access to our portfolio of offerings through programs that deliver targeted, cost-effective products and services to meet customers’ unique needs.

Inclusive clinical research
As part of our support for customers’ clinical development programs, we integrate strategies throughout the drug development process that provide deeper insights into the efficacy and safety of cutting-edge medicines across different populations.
Our dedicated colleagues help customers establish patient-focused approaches that address barriers to participation, emphasize cultural sensitivity and enhance transparency for a more inclusive research environment.
To further embed population health strategies throughout clinical development, we:
- Enable customer success by integrating health equity strategy as a key offering within clinical trial design
- Enrich our alliance of clinical research sites serving patient populations that are clinically-relevant yet currently underrepresented in trials
- Deepen partnerships to reach patients where they live and develop recruitment strategies tailored to local communities. nt strategies tailored to local communities

Training clinical research professionals globally
In 2025, we continued to expand our structured clinical research training program. A new module focused on optimizing trial operations reached more than 10,000 clinical research professionals in its first year. Through interactive online courses, our program strengthens the inclusive research capabilities of clinical operations teams and equips investigational sites with practical tools to address barriers that have historically limited trial access for critical patient populations. The trainings focus on inclusive research principles and actionable strategies for recruitment, retention and community engagement, all of which are essential to sustainably engaging underrepresented patient populations in clinical research.
